10 Ways To Make Your Blow Dry Last

Aug 27, 2018Blow Dry

Walking out of a salon with a perfect blow-dry is one of life’s little pleasures. Fast-forward to the next morning, and you wake up with a knotted mess or kinked waves. It may feel like you wasted all that time and effort to get nice hair. But it doesn’t have to be like this, because there are ways to make your blow-dry last.

  1. Don’t run your fingers through your hair

Yes, it feels silky smooth when you leave the salon, but don’t fiddle! The only things that should make contact with your hair immediately after a blow-dry are fresh air and the admiring glances of passersby.

  1. Rock a shower cap

Steam and water are big no-no’s – so whether you’re bathing, showering or just washing your face, make sure you wear your shower cap.

  1. Limit your shower time

To prevent steam from wrecking your blow-dry, don’t spend too much time in the shower or the bath. Leave the long soaks for the days before your next blow-dry appointment.

  1. Get clip-happy at bedtime

Secure your hair with smooth grips at night so that your hair doesn’t tangle itself out of shape and form uneven waves or unfortunate kinks.

  1. Sleep on silk

Cotton pillowcases are lovely when you’re a kid, but silk ones prevent your hair from tangling and – bonus – won’t create creases on your skin. Win-win!

  1. Go gently with the brush

You can brush or comb your blow-dried hair after a day or two, but make sure you’re doing it gently. Choose a hairbrush with thick bristles to lessen the chance of static frizz.

  1. Use Dry Shampoo

If your hair is looking a little flat come day three or four after your blow-dry, consider adding some texture with dry shampoo. This will dry any excess oil and sweat.

  1. Perfect the plait

When your blow-dry is beginning to look a little tired, plait your hair before you go to bed, and in the morning you’ll have beautiful waves.

  1. Spray away

If you find that your roots become oily overnight, spraying them with hairspray can prevent build up and keeps the smooth blow-dry finish for the next day.

  1. Choose an expert hairdresser

An excellent hairdresser will use special tools and techniques to ensure you get the best and longest use out of your blow-dry. Investing in a quality hairdresser is worth it for the results you get.

At Wieselmann Salon, we use specialist techniques, top of the range products and advanced equipment to give you a perfect blow-dry. Book an appointment today.
